Śakuntala (Abhidźńanaśakuntalam)

Niniejsza monografia poświęcona została utworowi Abhidźńanośakuntalam autorstwa Wielkiego Poety Kalidasy. Dzieło to uznawane jest za jeden z najważniejszych dramatów świata i za najpiękniejszy z klasycznych dramatów indyjskich. Z tego względu oraz z uwagi na fakt, iż tekst Kalidasy wywarł trwały wpływ na kulturę zarówno indyjską, jak i zachodnią, stanowi on istotny obszar badawczy, obejmujący swym zakresem różnorodne konteksty analityczne.

This monograph is dedicated to the Abhidźńanośakuntalam by the Great Poet Kalidasa. The piece is considered to be one of the greatest dramas in the world, and the most beautiful of Indian classical dramas. Bearing this in mind and because Kalidasa’s works have gready influenced culture, Indian and Western alike, it represents an important research area that cavers diverse analytical contexts. The most important ones are: the knowledge about the characters and Kalidasa’s world view, Abhidźńanośakuntalam in view of the Indian literary and religious-philosophical tradition, Abhidźńanośakuntalam as a classical Indian drama, its source analytical methods, its stage versions in the convention of classical scenic genres and in modem theatre, translation issues and the reception of the piece in a European theatre; all those constitute the meditations taken up in this research.
